Election Day — Tuesday, November 3 — is less than a month away. If you do one thing in the next couple of weeks, make a plan to vote.

Every Minnesota House and Senate seat is on the ballot this year, along with the governor's race — the contests that shape our daily lives most directly, often decided by razor-thin margins.

Confirm your registration and find your polling place at mnvotes.gov and compare candidates at Vote411.org.

After the election, learn who represents you. These are the people deciding on housing, food security, and allocation of resources in our communities. Introduce yourself as a constituent and tell them what you care about. Democracy is a partnership, and relationships built now matter later.

As a reminder, JRLC is a non-partisan organization, and our various faith traditions have long spoken to civic responsibility. The Torah commands: "Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue" (Deuteronomy 16:20). The New Testament teaches us to honor governing authority as a trust held for the common good (Romans 13:1). And the Quran instructs: "When you judge between people, judge with justice" (Surah An-Nisa 4:58).

See you at the polls next month — and at the Capitol next year!

In service,

Melissa DeBilzan
Executive Director
Joint Religious Legislative Coalition
