JRLC Issue Papers
We research and publish Issue Papers on pressing social justice issues in Minnesota that provide expert policy analysis grounded in interfaith religious principles. This analysis provides the foundation of our recommendations to the citizens of Minnesota and the State Legislature. Our most recent issue papers have covered the topics of human trafficking and predatory payday lending in Minnesota. Issue papers are posted here.
Advocacy at the State Capitol
The JRLC Legislative Network involves faithful citizen volunteers who learn about crucial issues facing our state, respond to timely action alerts, build relationships with policymakers, and organize local activities to shape public policy for a more just Minnesota.
Each year we convene our Day on the Hill lobby day at RiverCentre and the State Capitol. Participants are briefed on social justice issues and then visit with members of the legislature to share their stories and advocate for change. Each year this event attracts hundreds of Minnesotans from all regions of the state to come together to raise their voices for justice!
Organizing for Social Justice
We conduct action-oriented forums, workshops, and institutes which focus on faith and citizenship. We tap into deeply held religious principles and organize faithful citizens across Minnesota to build civic capacity for our advocacy work and for a healthier democracy. We issue timely action alerts, mobilizing our networks into the policy-making process.
