CALL FOR YOUNG ADULT NOMINATIONS!
In order to provide a space both for networking among young, religious, justice-oriented individuals, as well as to highlight the leadership capacities of young people in Minnesota, JRLC is hosting a panel discussion of young activists on the topic of faith-based social justice from multiple religious perspectives.
The event will be held on February 11, 2010, at the Augsburg College Chapel.
Panelists will discuss the connection between their personal faith and the public social actions that they take; how each feels about how his or her faith community (both locally and nationally) approaches social justice; how traditions vary from one another in their approaches to social justice; and, how active each panelist is in working for social justice within his or her own community. There will be a time for question and answers with the audience after panel members have answered and discussed particular questions.
The panel will be moderated by Brian Rusche, Executive Director at JRLC, who will act as the in-house expert on the connection between faith and social justice

Following the panel, both panelists and audience will be invited to a reception for networking and conversation, which will have live music and free food to facilitate a casual atmosphere. Nonprofit representatives will be asked to network with young adults to facilitate volunteerism, internships, activism, and career opportunities.
It is hoped that the event and following reception will help to begin creating a network of young adult faith-based advocates for social justice in Minnesota. Further events are already in the planning process at other universities in the Twin Cities Metro area.
