Potential solution to GAMC cuts to be proposed today
Today at 12:30, Room 125 in the capitol, Legislators Murphy, Berglin, and Huntley will propose a 16-month bridge solution to the General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC) unallotments. The sixteen months are intended to take GAMC to the end of the current biennium, after which the program may be reevaluated.
The plan involves drawing from existing pots of money that GAMC has earned (like federal disproportionate share dollars for hospitals and drug rebates) and tightening up the restrictions on who qualifies for GAMC.
The press conference will reveal more details about the plan -- including how much it will cost -- and, if you don't want to venture out into the cold, is availalble on webcast live. Listen in, and then tell us what you think!
