April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

iCAN partners with Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota (PCAMN), our state's chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, to raise awareness of the problem and to offer information and resources to prevent it.   April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  iCAN prepares and distributes materials to help congregations and their wider communities learn about the issue and participate in PCAMN's  annual Blue Ribbon Campaign to End Child Abuse. 

The Blue Ribbon Campaign began in the spring of 1989 when Bonnie Finney, a Norfolk, Virginia grandmother, took a stand against child abuse by tying a blue ribbon to the antenna of her van. Read the Blue Ribbon story.

Order Blue Ribbons: Individual blue ribbons are peelable from their backing and are easy to hand out or include in worship bulletins. The backing includes helpful public information about preventing child abuse and neglect. Order up to 1,000 per congregation, FREE. We will be taking orders for April 2010 soon!
