April Campaign

blue lapel ribbonApril is Child Abuse Prevention Month

iCAN partners with Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota (PCAMN), our state's chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, to raise awareness of the problem and to offer information and resources to prevent it. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. iCAN prepares and distributes materials to help congregations and their wider communities learn about the issue and participate in PCAMN's annual Blue Ribbon Campaign to End Child Abuse.

The Blue Ribbon Campaign began in the spring of 1989 when Bonnie Finney, a Norfolk, Virginia grandmother, took a stand against child abuse by tying a blue ribbon to the antenna of her van. Read the Blue Ribbon story.

During the Month of April our Key Advocates around the state will be helping their congregations participate in Child Abuse Prevention Month. iCAN works with Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota to make informational materials, blue ribbon sticker, parenting survival cards and more available to our advocates.
